Anyone have a G1 or an iphone 2g they're not using? (to be used on tmobile. I know how to unlock iphones.)
(Yes, I _know_ for whom I work...)

Sadly, the audio-only recordings I made of the Oysterband concerts didn't come out well (The Nokia E71 has a good voice recorder app, but it's not that good.), but I have some (relatively) good videos of The Destroyers in Bristol, and a really pretty nice recording of the Oysters' _Put_Out_The_Lights_ in London. Everything's up on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/baitcommajailEnjoy! More about the trip later.

Ralph Hinkley's Cape + Cosmic Boy's Group's Logo + Red Octane's most famous game's controller = ( and the answer is.... )I'm not going to bother with the wikipedia links. :)

Looking at the instrumentation (I couldn't SEE the sound check), I did pick right. 2 fiddles, 2guitar, bass, 2 trumpet, trombone, hurdy gurdy, tuba. Drums, banjo, accordian, piccalo, flute, oud(!), dadouk(!!) and a Svengali-like lead vocalist. 3 Mustaphas 3 meets Lo'Jo with a hint of Gong and a pinch of The Residents. Win! Gig's over now! Omfg. WIN!! Posted via LiveJournal.app.

A) it's very hard to get the fanboy Torchwood pics when the Rally of Great Britain has its 'festival' on top of the elevator opening. B) If you happen to be in Cardiff this holiday season: http://westend.broadwayworld.com/article/John_Barrowman_To_Star_In_ROBIN_HOOD_THE_PANTOMIME_ADVENTURE_1212_01242010_20090629 Posted via LiveJournal.app.

Through directed searching and blind luck on the clicking, I'm going to be seeing The Destroyers shortly. From listening to their soundcheck, I think I picked wisely. I have no idea about the opener. More info later.

As there seem to be no cruises sailing up the Avon today, to Brunel's bridge or such, I'm off to Cardiff for the day.
Woo. :) | |
|
Does anyone want to join me for lunch at St. John, either Smithfield or Spitalfields, in a week? I'm going to try to make the booking tomorrow or Thursday at the latest.
|
On the bog-standard brought-in working lunch!
.. and sausage pies!
Yum! | |

Things you don't expect to see on exhibit at the Museum Of The History Of Science in the Old Ashmolean Museum... Works by people you know. (That'd be stuff by Tom Willeford, in the Steampunk exhibit.) Posted via LiveJournal.app.

If you were arriving at Heathrow on Saturday Morning, and had to be in Bristol by Monday night, what would you do with the weekend?
|
During a normal day at work, I expect to receive audio input from: iPod, personal cell, work cell (==desk phone), work PC (VOIP is popular here), and personal laptop. I expect to send audio (speak in to. :) the middle 3 of those, and maybe all of the last 4.
WHY is there no desktop mixing console that deals with the proliferation of devices - more so, that handles both input AND output?
(If I'm wrong, PLEASE let me know.)
(I could deal with a 4-way mixer, if need be.)
(I thought I'd posted about this here before, but going over my last year of posts (<90) seems to show that I haven't.)

Until the past 2 weeks, I don't think I've EVER owned a shirt with collar stays, including my custom-tailored Maxwell's shirts.
In my shopping for my new job, I now own 3, and I'm perplexed.
Is it just Collar Stay Time in the fashion world? Or have I just somehow missed them in the past?
(Really, I need to check all of my older dress shirts and make sure that none of them take stays, and that I've just been wearing them floppy collared when I shouldn't have been..)

As some of you might have noticed, I started square dancing about 6 1/2 years ago. :) The next chance for YOU to start square dancing - or relearn, if you once knew and have forgotten - with Tech Squares is tonight. My various burbleings about it here are available at my squares tagTonight's class is in the MIT student center, room 407. Show up around 8. Class dancing starts at 8:15. Oh, and I'm the class coordinator this semester. :)

I haven't gotten enough orders yet to get more shirts made. Most notably, more than half the people who signed up on site saying they were interested have not ordered. Please do so soon? Thanks ETA: Yes, please order here, as I said the last time I posted about this, a few months ago.

On 9/8, I start a new job at Nokia in Burlington!
Now to figure out what to do with the last of my "vacation". :)

We're wanting to mount things to our walls... and we need to figure out how best to deal.
If there's a studfinder out there that can differentiate between metal and wood, that'd be even better.
(I suspect any originally-located walls are turn-of-the-(last-)century wood stud, but seemingly covered with sheetrock - probably when brought up to modern electrics, and I have no idea when the last major renos and wall-moves were and thus what they're likely to have been done with. So then the questions are: What's the best sheetrock anchor out there? Do you use different hardware on metal vs wood studs? What else do I need to be taking in to account that I haven't thought of?
Thanks!) | |
|
I've reset the 'store' for new orders. I don't know how long I'll have it up for orders before submitting the order to the shirt printer, but it'll be at least a couple of weeks. If you signed up on site as wanting one, I'll be _trying_ to contact you if you don't order, but no promises. If you're going to need me to ship it to you, be sure to buy the 'shipping' item, too.

Would anyone in the area happen to have 1 or 2 wiimotes (and chucks?) I could borrow for the next 11 days or so, or maybe - as we've been talking about wanting more than 2 when all 3 of us are together - even buy?
Don't ask why they got packed separately from the Wii...
Thanks! | |

I like redjo's phrasing: Ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should maybe be obvious, but you have no idea about. ---- I'll try to answer sometime in the next few months. :)

A) Tshirt orders ( http://wp.baitcon.org/what-is-baitcon/products-page/ ) close tomorrow at NOON. We're going to make a few extras, but not that many! (Orders are _really_ low... There HAVE been technical issues, so if you tried before and failed, please try again. Also, please give us a real email address in case I need to ask you something about your order. Thanks!) B) A contra dance needs musicians. As we've shown in the past, musicians need music! coraline is organizing both of these things. She will have music available for download soon, and would also like to know who is coming and is interested in playing, and what it is that you play. You can comment here, but better would be to mail contra dash 2009 at baitcon dot org Thanks!

Over the past week, a number of updates have happened on the website and the LJ.
Take a look. :)
(Another major web update is due for Monday, I think it is.)
|
Rather than duplicate it here: http://www.baitcon.org/2009/05/31/531-update/(And the 'posts' have an RSS feed available, too. Don't add it here, though, please?) T-shirt sales are well below expectations. Is this a conscious decision on everyone's part, or is there just lameness?
|
So, I know I didn't refresh my moving karma at all over the last batch of moves, but if anyone's around this weekend and is willing to help me with some stuff around the house, somke of which will involve lifting and hauling... only one thing of any size up any stairs though... please please let me know? My schedule will be adjusted to yours.
Thanks in advance... | |

She's asked me to let everyone know that her surgery today went fine and that she's at home, and resting.
She'll update in her own journal when she's up to it.
